Inward cheque return: Rs 250 up to Rs 1 lakh, Rs 500 above Rs 1 lakh to Rs 1 crore, Rs 750 above Rs 1 crore.

Why it happened
A cheque was returned unpaid, most often for insufficient balance or a signature mismatch.
How to avoid it
Keep sufficient balance before the cheque is presented. Where the return was for a technical reason not caused by you, banks generally levy no charge and you can ask for a reversal.
